Life is short

Matthew 6: 26-27
26 Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are? 27 Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?

All your worries will not add a single moment to your life. That is a hard concept to understand today. It seems that we spend most of our time worrying about things that will never happen. We take years off our life with stress, we lose countless hours that we will never get back. Think about all of the time that has ticked off the clock. Worrying about things that will never happen, or things that we have no control over.

We tend to get worried because we try to trust ourselves more than we trust God. Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God. (Psalm 20:7). We have to turn it over to a higher power. There is a reason why most sucsessful 12 step programs start with turning your life over to a higher power. We…..all of us, have to realize that we are not in as much control as we would like to think we are. We need to stop focusing on our problems, and start magnifying our God. If we will put half as much faith in the Lord, as we try to put in our selves we would find our success rate will soar, and our blood pressure will return to normal.

I am not saying that we should not worry at all…… we should be respectful of our duties, we should be concerned that all is accomplished. The Lord will work great miracles in your life, but he will not do everything for you. We know the path that is before us everyday, and there are right and wrong paths we can take. The point is that If we spend our time focusing on the Lord, and searching out his path for our lives, the rest he will take care of. There is no need to worry! So take a deep breath today, and let it go. Let God drive for a while, he does not get lost along the way!

Peace,
Rev. T
